Verifying Geometry and Volumetric Accuracy

Calibration under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 checks volumetric performance, probing error and axis geometry against the manufacturer's stated accuracy, confirming whether the last verified alignment still holds.

As-found and as-left data are recorded on the certificate. If a machine fails, repair and realignment can be quoted as a separate line item before work begins.

What Is Checked

Calibration scope is matched to the machine type and the accredited laboratory's capability before a quotation is issued.

  1. Volumetric performance

Length measurement error checked against ISO 10360-2 test lengths and positions.

  2. Probing error

Form and size error evaluated with a calibrated reference sphere.

  3. Axis and squareness checks

Straightness, squareness and scale error measured along each travel.

  4. Repair and realignment

Collision damage, encoder faults and air bearing issues diagnosed and quoted.

  5. Retrofit support

Controller and scale replacement coordinated for legacy machines.

How a Request Is Handled

  1. Submit details

Make, model, travel range and current location are reviewed.

  2. Quotation issued

Scope, method and turnaround are confirmed in writing.

  3. Calibration performed

Field service or depot work is scheduled with the accredited laboratory.

  4. Certificate released

Results are reviewed before the certificate and data are issued.

Why Cincinnati CMM Calibration and Repair

  1. Large-format field service

Bridge and gantry machines over several meters are calibrated without disassembly on-site.

  2. Repair quoted separately

Repair decisions are quoted independently of the out-of-tolerance finding itself.

  3. Multiple controller families supported

Legacy and current CMM controllers are each matched to a laboratory with relevant capability.
